Sorry its been long
A long time without any word

Me and George have been settling in
At the corner of 17th and Irwin
It's a big house like home

Remember?
The big house with the high ceilings
And potted cornflowers
They made for such a blue mixture

We used to sit out back with mom and the little kids
Like life was one of those
Pretty, pretty paintings

George and I do that now
And it's the same

He likes being named after you
Did I ever tell you that?

He's just like I was at his age
All ready and smart and too old too soon

Though we think different things

GrowGrow

Do you understand how hard it is to grow in the shadows of others? We require praise, we need food for thought, we lust after droplets of thanks or congratulations. We are like flowers. We are delicate creatures, so easily destroyed, we are needy creatures so desperate for the approval of others, we are beautiful creatures, so diverse and spry.

Take away sunlight. We are not beautiful. We are pale and pallid, every wrinkle shows, our shoulders sag from weight that we cannot carry on our own. Perhaps the weight will take us someplace new.

Take away water. We are damaged far beyond repair. We are thirsty, and weak, and apt to dispose of

HappinessSo, where should I begin? Happiness could be anything. Happiness is that feeling you get when your insides sort of warm up, and your limbs become as light as air, your head is dizzy, and you're completely at bliss. Nothing could scare you or harm you at this moment, this moment when you're "happy." Happiness fills your stomach, until you feel like you can't eat a single bite, and your eyes make those crescent moons and usually you're smiling; either a small one or one that stretches from ear to ear in euphoria.

At this age, you are four. You are still in preschool, playing with blocks, making tiles with your blue handprints on them, playing down near that plastic yellow bus with your friends, as you should be. MuteWeight upon my shoulders drags me down, and when I think I've dropped it off, it creeps back up on me, and this time, it buries under my skin so that I cannot shed it. A Sonnet For YouInside this fist conceals a shining key
To free thou from this dark and hostile world
Let go all prior thoughts of what should be

Euphoric thoughts envelop hearts enshrined
For only thou I find the strength to leap

Inside a chest lie memories we keep

FairytaleInstead of me, writing about some sadistic type of fairytale
Like I normally would
Let me see how well I can conjure up a normal fairytale.

Instead of a broken hearted soul closing her eyes and finding a world in which
She can kill everything and sin all she wants there
How about I make it into something simple and cliched?

A young girl
Probably the age of fifteen
Reads a book about a fairyland.

She goes to bed that night, and
Instantly is transported into a place
That I would best describe as Neverland.

She goes on an adventure, eats cotton candy that grows on bushes
And drinks from the soda pop dream
Then the next morning, she

I thought I hated you.

And I thought the barrier between us was put up for that reason.

Unfortunately, I realize

I built it to keep not you out

But me in.

Like a mirrorWe're like a mirror,
too much the same,
but it's so comfortable,
until there's eye contact,
until we're together,
and it feels so quiet,
like something doesn't fit

And then I'm left to think,
Can something be broken,
if it never existed?

ComfortIt's very difficult to be anything
when you believe you are nothing,
and live in reality like it matters
when you feel it does not.

I have come to believe that
contentment is better than
happiness.
logic is more fathomable than
wonder.

I feel very bland.
but that's comfort.

Anesthesia- the sleepAnother dose and we were free.
Drifting in and out of sanity.
Arms wide open, eyes shut tight.
We lay there in the light.
Breaking through the sullen air.
Look at us, this mismatched pair.
Hands entwined, the fate we brought.
And as we wake, the breath we caught.
Your words mean nothing as we doze.
Fighting off our gentle foes.
Please bring back the darkened days.
Let me sleep in gentle haze.
